Looxcie is a personal wearable camcorder that is suitable for a wide variety of uses and scenarios. The Looxcie LX1 has Bluetooth capability and works with iOS and Android devices.
Price
The Looxcie (LX1) currently retails for $111 on Amazon down from $199 at this price it is an affordable on the go camcorder with a price comparable to a entry-level consumer digital camera.
Comfort
The Looxcie (LX1) has a rubberized design that can be twisted and bent to match your ear size and for comfort. The device was comfortable on my ear although after about one or two hours the device did cause minor strain although this is common among most Bluetooth devices that are in-ear. Video Quality I found the video quality to be quite good considering the size of the device and the size of the camera itself and according to technical information the device uses a HVGA format and can record up to 480p.
Battery Life
I was astonished by the battery life of the Looxcie which can record for up to five hours without a re-charge which is long-lasting for a device of its size and nature.
The Bottom Line
Looxcie is an excellent option for those who are interested in recording special moments, events or even a bike ride with the convenience of a wearable device that frees up your hands. I was however disappointed that the device does not yet seem to work with Ustream or Livestream which would significantly boost the value of this device. I spent several days checking out the Looxcie and felt the design of the device and quality of the video was well worth the cost.
In addition to consumer use I think this device could be used for law enforcement accountability applications and is flexible enough to perhaps be used in various other scenarios. I’m eager to try the new Looxcie 2 when it becomes available to me in the future.
