bitly class1 300x199 Bit.ly Classic Now Available

Bit.ly Classic

If you are a Bit.ly user then you are quite aware that the folks at Bit.ly have been up to some shenanigans that just doesn’t feel so good to all of their users. As such I introduce to you Bitly Classic a Chrome Extension that brings all the original classic love of Bit.ly and leaves out the rest.

The extension is available for download in the Chrome Webstore and the Source is available here and if you like that nice operating system you see in the screenshot to the left then grab a copy here.

If it has nothing to do with Mozilla, why have you posted it on Planet Mozilla?

@tomerc Planet Mozilla is a aggregator for blogs of Mozilla Contributors and is not by any means limited to blog posts related to Mozilla or even Open Source.

It is intended as a window into the lives and thoughts of contributors.

@bkerensa I am very sorry, but I don’t expect to see people creating a Google Chrome-Only extensions while counting themselves as Mozilla contributers .

@tomerc If your implying why I didn’t port the add-on to Firefox the reason is simple its because the FF add-on was unaffected by Bit.ly’s changes and plus the source code is available but even then I’m not a Firefox Dev or Add-On Dev.

@tomerc Lets remember that Google provides lots of funding for Mozilla and is very friendly to untold amount of Open Source projects.

I find this blog’s presence on Planet Mozilla surprising as well. I just went through the archives and had to go back to Feb 9, 2012 to find a post that’s related to Mozilla. I’m happy with having *some* non-Mozilla related posts on Planet Mozilla, but you’re not even close to that threshold. Maybe there’s a Planet Ubuntu aggregator that would be more appropriate.
