Happy Independence Day

Today marks a very special occasion for all Americans it marks our Independence from Great Britain because Colonists were being taxed without representation and because of the idea of a better and stronger government that listened to the people. Our country has made great progress in protecting the individual freedoms of the people but often it seems like that progress is erased or an attempt to reverse it by special interests occurs.

This Fourth of July should not only be a day of celebration but also should mark a day when Americans can reflect on how our country has headed down a hazardous road filled with attacks on the middle class, women’s rights and civil liberties and how our politicians are so consumed by lobbyists from multi-national corporations and special interests that they have lost sight of their duties and the voice of the people.

Lets remember the importance of holding our elected officials accountable and protecting ourselves by using the power of the vote to deflect a corporate takeover of our White House.
