Halfway through OSCON
I have now been at O’Reilly OSCON for three days now and before that at the Community Leadership Summit and the Ubuntu Booth has been busy with attendees stopping by to get a CD and other swag and to talk about their favorite features in 12.04. Ubuntu is yet again in great company we are surrounded by Python, PostgreSQL, MariaDB and many more. This year unfortunately we were not joined by our friends at Fedora on the Project Pavillion but they are on the Enterprise Block of Booths just across the Expo Floor and they have a very nifty “Beefy Miracle” cutout and some interesting demos and swag.
Yesterday I spent part of the day listening to a talk by Jorge Castro and Mark Mims of Canonical where they presented a tutorial on Juju and that session was packed to the brim with some attendees sitting on the floor even.
Additionally I caught parts of Robbie Williams presenting on MaaS (Metal as a Service) where he did a live Demo using some HP Proliant Micro Servers running Ubuntu. and finally I won an amazing gadget which is a RC Helicopter from the folks at Couchbase which offer simple, fast and elastic No-SQL database for Mission Critical Systems.
Well thats all for now….
