web analytics

Recently I installed a Torbit snippet to analyze load times for my website which I am constantly trying to improve by using a combination of techniques.I learned that my blog loads something awful slow for people in Finland and South Africa.

I was really surprised to see just how slowly on average Mozilla Firefox loads my website. It is important to take into consideration that this is just a small data sampling so as more data comes in that trend is likely to improve.

Although not measured in this testing my web traffic continues to be dominated by Linux Desktop Users and Android Users. I’m now using this small sample of data to reduce things like DNS Lookups, Third Party Javascript and Stylesheets etc.

You are aware of the fact that your arrow points at South Africa and Zaire is the name that was used for the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 1971 and 1997?

Thanks for letting me know ;) My African Geography is not the best and Torbit did say it was Zaire when I hovered over unless there is another African Country that uses ZA?

Thanks for the shout out. I always love it when people are willing to share their performance data publicly. Let me know if there’s ever anything I can do for you.

As you figured out, ZA is the country code for South Africa. Zaire (previously ZR, now CD) is in the middle of Africa, but is now called the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Not confusing at all, right? I found a few of our GeoIP libraries that still listed Zaire. Thanks to this post, they have now been updated.
