I was recently sent a Facebook Gift by Lee Linden, CEO of Karma and head of Facebook Gifts and I must say I am kind of intrigued by the idea of having a gift catalog baked into social media so I can dispatch a gift for a birthday or wedding with a couple clicks of a button.

I mean how cool is it that for absolutely any reason you could send a nice gift and get reminders when you login in Facebook so you don’t hurt a good friends feeling by missing that special date?

Send your friend a bag of jerky or a Starbucks card for his Birthday?

Facebook Gifts is still in a private testing phase and is not open to the public and Lee Linden says Facebook does not have an ETA on when a public roll out will occur however those users who have the Gifts enabled can Gift other users which will open the feature to them and at the same time allow Facebook to test and scale this feature in a cautious way.

So far the catalog has both low-end and high-end priced gifts.

What are your thoughts on sending Gifts on Facebook? Will you find this feature useful?

Are the recommended gifts the same for everyone or does it use profile information to suggest products specifically for an individual?

Its much to early to know this since so few people have it.
