I’m quite fascinated with birds and other small animals so I figured I would occasionally post a photo of one I have taken and share some information. I will start with the Steller’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) this photo was taken in the Oregon Zoo.
Steller’s Jay is native to western North America closely related to the Blue Jay found in the rest of the continent. The Steller’s Jay fancies eating mostly seeds, soft fruits and the occasional invertebrates so the Steller’s Jay is a true ominvore. This species seems to flourish in Oregon since I see them quite frequently no matter what part of the state I happen to be in which is consistent with their habitat being mostly coniferous forests.
