I’m bummed out that I will be unable to attend vUDS simply because its difficult to justify taking time off from my projects for a virtual event but I wanted to quickly point out some sessions folks should check out:
Ubuntu Documentation Roundtable – Ubuntu Documentation Team is holding a session to discuss important issues, workflow and other topics for the 14.04 cycle. As always the Ubuntu Documentation Team is looking for new contributors to help keep documentation crisp for each cycle.
SDK for HTML5 App Developers – I think it’s really important for folks to start diving into HTML5 whether you’re doing it to make and app on Ubuntu Touch or Firefox OS. Either way porting across platforms will be easy once you dive in. This should be an interesting session, and it will be nice to see more HTML5 apps for Ubuntu Touch.
Ceph activities for trusty – Ceph is an awesome distributed object store and file system that’s made for scalability, performance and high reliability. The Ceph project is a great community all in its own and its great to see solid support for Ceph in Ubuntu Server.
Limiting Surveillance in Ubuntu – Ubuntu was recently awarded a Big Brother award which is an anti-privacy awardbut even before that reputable advocacy organizations such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Privacy International and the Free Software Foundation were critical of the Unity Scopes feature and still are today. I think it is important for Ubuntu Members and Users to continue to advocate for more user choice and privacy in Ubuntu.
